The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, advancing them to the World Series for just the second time in franchise history.

The Diamondbacks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, with the Phillies scoring the game’s next two runs to take a 2-1 lead after four innings. A pair of two-out singles from Arizona’s Corbin Carroll and Gabriel Moreno drove in two runs in the fifth inning to put the Diamondbacks back in front 3-2, with Carroll adding a run in the seventh inning to extend the Diamondbacks’ lead to 4-2. Arizona’s bullpen held the Phillies’ scoreless the rest of the game to earn the victory and a trip to the World Series.

The Diamondbacks will face the Texas Rangers, who defeated the Houston Astros in the ALCS. Arizona returns to the World Series for the first time since 2001, when they defeated the New York Yankees.

The 2023 World Series is scheduled to begin on Friday with Game 1 at the Rangers’ Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
